Workshops

Zomerfolk is the festival of discovery. Whether it's music, food, or perhaps a new hobby, our workshops are ideal for the latter. Here you'll find everything you can expect to experience in the run-up to the 2026 edition.

Irish dance

Rosalie Wagenaar Tcrg Rosalie is one of the most famous names in the Irish dance scene in the Netherlands. She is a certified dance instructor, runs her own successful dance school, has been dancing with the folk band Rapalje for years, and has gained considerable fame in recent years with performances at shows including the National Taptoe, Jandino in De Kuip, and on programs like Holland's Got Talent, Circus Gerschtanowitz, and Last One Laughing. Learn the basics of Irish dancing from Rosalie and become as enthusiastic as we are! No dance experience is necessary.

Scottish dance

For years, a cheerful, passionate, and close-knit group of Highland Dancers has been active in the Northern Netherlands, passionate about sharing this beautiful dance form with others. Highland dancing originated in Scotland and was once performed by clans after victories and celebrations. Today, this tradition continues worldwide, including at Zomerfolk!

playing bagpipes

The Clan MacBeth Pipeband has become an integral part of our festival. Not only do they perform, but they also give you the unique opportunity to experience what it is like to play the bagpipes for yourself. Who knows, you might discover a completely new hobby, just like many before you!

Irish dance (up to 7 years)

Dancing is for all ages, and you can't start Irish dancing too early. Due to overwhelming success, Rosalie will once again be giving a special workshop for children up to and including 7 years old this year. This way, little legs can keep up a bit more easily, and they will undoubtedly become instant fans of Rosalie and her dance classes.

Scottish dance (4 to 12 years)

Due to overwhelming success, Highland Dancing NL is also organizing a workshop especially for children aged 4 to 12 on the Saturday of Zomerfolk this year. Here, young visitors are taken on a journey to Scotland and dance at a real Scottish party!
