Twenty-year-old Merel Bakker from Uithuizen is an acoustic singer-songwriter in the easy-listing/folk music genre. With her unique songs she knows how to touch the audience in a special way under the stage name Merulsa. With her texts she tells stories about her own experiences and shows how she looks at life and the world around it. In 2017, at the age of fourteen, she won third place in the national final of Kunstbende, and in the same year she released her first EP “We're Heading”.
She has played at Bevrijdingsfestival Groningen, Hongerige Wolf, Noorderzon, Fable & Fantasy, Eurosonic Noorderslag and Art Carnival, and with her singles My Love and Every Day she has appeared in the Noord 9, the hit list of RTV Noord. In January 2023 she released her new single Still Not Alone, and in March her first Dutch-language single called Als Geluk Compleet. In addition, she will also play at the large fantasy festival Castlefest later this year. Merulsa will play the Pub Stage on the Sunday of our festival.
