Studio 117 Crazy Drummers is a percussion collective from Odessa that consists exclusively of women. From the studio they receive lessons in classical dance, jazz and tap dance, percussion and drama. Armed with state-of-the-art 'marching drums' and beautiful costumes, they then set the environment on fire with their (international) performances: drums meet choreography. A nice duck in the bite in the line up of both Zomerfolk and Groningen Brass Experience.
The band's male accompanists returned to fight and the ladies stayed behind. They have been staying in Nice for over 3 months now but cannot stay there any longer. The plan is to return to Odessa via the Netherlands, Germany and Poland if it is safe enough there.
SUMMERFOLK & GRONINGEN BRASS EXPERIENCE JOIN HANDS
After two years of absence, Zomerfolk will be back on the live stage on June 11 and 12, and a brand new festival will be launched in the city from June 9 to 12 with the Groningen Brass Experience festival. But what connects the two festivals? Performances by the Ukrainian musicians of Studio 117 Crazy Drummers. During the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the group was trapped in France. Through an international festival network, the glorious company came in the sights of the Groningers and further nails were hit by the two festivals. With (material) help and a nice place in the programming of both festivals, the return journey can be started.
