In 1996, virtually unnoticed and independent of the prevailing music trends of the late nineties, the small Rostock band The Sally Gardens was formed. From that moment on, the two sisters Sabine and Bettina Brennwald dedicated themselves to music of Irish and Scottish origin.

The girls' first performance in a medieval restaurant came about quite by chance and was accompanied by their fair share of stage fright. Nevertheless, they gained important musical experience there and learned from the direct contact with the audience.

From there, performances followed on stages and in pubs throughout Germany, but also in England, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Irish music is known throughout Europe and enjoys great popularity. Under these circumstances, it was not always easy for The Sally Gardens to hold their own in the mainstream folk scene, but they found their own niche.

The strikingly rough low voices of bassist Sabine and guitarist Betty became their trademark and give their interpretations of well-known folk songs a charm all their own. In addition, the repertoire is constantly being expanded with original compositions, which can already be heard on the CDs. Airborne and now also on the fifth record Moving On.

Almost 30 years of The Sally Gardens means about 70 concerts a year, millions of miles in the band bus, nine amazing guest musicians, some of whom still play with them, broken guitar strings, and above all, a lot of happy people at their concerts.
