The Trials of Cato

The remarkable emergence of the BBC Radio 2 award-winning trio The Trials of Cato on the British folk scene has been the subject of massive attention. Dubbed “the Sex Pistols of folk” (J Davis), they pay clear homage to tradition as they twist old bones into something feverish and modern, with pounding tunes and captivating stories.

Particularly formed in Beirut, Lebanon, The Trials of Cato have blazed a trail like no other since returning to the UK. Memorable performances in Britain, Europe and North America led Mark Radcliffe to call the band 'one of the true discoveries on the folk circuit in recent times', with their 2018 debut Hide and Hair earning BBC Radio 2 'Best Album' folk award won. With their latest album Gog Magog, The Trials of Cato present their most daring music to date.

We are very proud to welcome this fantastic band on the Sunday of our festival!
